Anyone who has bought a proxy has pasted it into a checker and stared at a percentage. The number is real and it measures something — just not what most people think, and not what decides whether a platform lets you in. Here is what those tools see, and the four signals that actually matter.
A checker like Whoer looks at signals that should agree with each other and penalises disagreement. Your IP says Germany; does your system timezone? Does your browser language? Is a proxy detectable in your headers? Do DNS requests exit where the rest of your traffic does? Does WebRTC quietly reveal your real address?
So it is a consistency check, not a security score. A high number means your signals do not contradict each other. It does not mean you are anonymous, and it does not mean any particular website will accept you.
The weighting is arbitrary. Items that would never cause a real refusal sit alongside items that break everything, counted roughly equally. People spend hours tuning fonts and canvas noise to move a number, while the thing that will actually get them blocked goes unaddressed.
Fix genuine contradictions. Ignore the last few percent. Nobody's account was ever saved by 98 becoming 100.

Note what is not on that list: canvas hashes, font lists, screen resolution. Those matter in specific antidetect workflows and are close to irrelevant to whether an ordinary purchase works.
Provenance is the top row for a reason and it is the row checkers handle worst. A summary percentage will happily tell you everything is consistent while your address sits in a hosting range that the platform you care about blocked years ago. Country is trivial to get right; whose network the address belongs to is what gets judged.
That is the thing worth checking explicitly before you buy in volume. The IP check tool prints the autonomous system and its owner, so you can see whether an address reads as a real consumer connection or as a server — the distinction that quietly explains most “but the country was correct” failures.
Check provenance first, then DNS, then WebRTC, then timezone and language. If those four are clean, you are done, whatever the percentage says. If the address is hosting when your task needs residential, no amount of tuning anything else will rescue it.

Four things: whether the address reads as residential or hosting, whether DNS requests exit through the proxy, whether WebRTC exposes your real address, and whether your timezone and language match the country you are claiming. Those four cause nearly every real failure.
Almost always because the address is a hosting range rather than a consumer one. Country is easy to get right; provenance is what platforms actually score. That distinction is invisible on a score-based checker.
